An injured Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta) was found yesterday between El Cotillo and Majanicho on the north coast of Fuerteventura.
The right-front flipper of the animal was severally injured and necrotic, and the turtle was flown to Gran Canaria for treatment this morning (May 3rd).
Unfortunately the flipper will probably need to be amputated.

The turtle was released yesterday back into the sea having recovered from the operation to remove its flipper:
