Stop in Caleta every time now 4x this year 5 last. Ideal location for touring the Island. ten minutes from airport it is under flight path but not bothered by the noise (not bad they are decelarating for landing take off is over to the north )after a day or so. Plenty bars and resturaunts several top class ones. Varied night life.including all night .
If you want lots of all night bars and clubs (Corelajo)
The Beach is looking a bit bare in places (Man made and actually very safe for families not open to main sea in a horse shoe sheltered bay,
Market day is Saturday Morning buyer beware. but some very good artizan stalls Try Freda (ilse of Arran) the silver stall big blue cover and back drop . she and Dave her husband make all their Jewellry. The real "gold" sellers before you buy ask yourself would gold be displayed as they display it(My own Thought only)
Lots of trourist shops, Even this last time I was overcharged in an Electrical /ciggarette /booze shop first one next to Caleta Gardens. sold a battery for 9.99 e. around corner reputable jeweller 4 e. we all learn.but was desparate I drink mostly in the Spanish bars (arcades quite good fun and a chance to practice spanish much to joy of locals but they help now .
The hotels there is style for to cater for everyones taste. but even if you are not staying in the better hotels you are welcome to use their facilities polls etc and the live shows but buy from them (drinks etc). car hire If I just want one for a few days I use ecocars on crossing between shopping centres cheap but very well maintaned cars even water bottle is full (Screenwash) Luccia speaks perfect english.
Driving is still after 10 years multiple yearly visits I find very easy little traffic and now since Mountain roads have been done a pleasure not the heart stopping adventure it used to be. In all though Caleta is not everyones choice it is good for families and those you wish to relax. not that much noise even on main street at night, I usually try to stay at Caleta Gardens on the main drag find it welcoming the reception girls excelent english and helpful. Wind people seem to think is a problem I find it not to bad but I have never been in July or August it is cooling but BEWARE it is deceiving and can lead to severe sunburn if not careful. we were there during the plague of locusts Only seen it once in 10 years and 18 visits. amazing
I hope this is useful to someone intending to visit. Peter

Thanks for all that. We're going to Calleta (de Feuste/Dorada/Whatever) on 07/10/2009 for the first time and always interested to hear varied opinions.
I intend updating this post once we return to give another view.
